I’m Max Collier, a software engineer based in Melbourne, Australia.
Originally I’m from Central Otago, New Zealand. Aotearoa has a long history of backing bold ideas, and I believe our next chapter depends on giving the next generation the room, education and resources to build something of their own.
I am currently volunteering on the IT team at The Opportunity Party as a small way to put my technical skills toward a cause I believe in - that everyone deserves a real chance to make their way in the world.
I spend a large chunk of my time learning across a breadth of new technologies. The economic cost of R&D has fundamentally inverted since the advent of AI. What used to take team months now takes focused builders days. I focus on experimental, exploratory work and techniques of developing with AI.
I believe most people are still unaware of the true economics and useful stratigies for how to adopt AI tooling best (including myself!). Every technological revolution lays the foundations for the next, and I want to be a positive force in shaping what comes next.
My skills sit at the intersection of applied Data Science, DevOps, Software Engineering and AI development. Across my career at TracPlus, Starboard, and most recently Entain, I’ve typically worked across all of these domains, with remote sensor data and geospatial analysis as recurring themes. My current focus is on agentic development — building systems where AI agents can experiment, iterate, and ship working software alongside humans.
Primarily in our world, I believe we rely on good people, and the decisions they make to affect positive change in society or business. AI is now our best tool for making informed decisions of our own — and that’s where I see the opportunity: more good decisions, made faster, by more people.
